Terms and Conditions
These are the terms under which Crier is provided. They're written to be clear about what you're agreeing to — not to hide anything in small print. By creating an account, you agree to them.
Crier is operated by Clear Built Ltd, registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17103468).
1. What Crier is
Crier connects local venues with the people nearby who want to hear from them. Venues — pubs, bars, cafés and the like — publish promotions and share-ready posters. Locals follow the venues they care about, get notified when there's an offer, and redeem it in person by showing it to staff.
We may improve or change the service over time. If a change significantly affects what a venue is paying for, we'll tell them before it happens.
2. Your account
Signing in is passwordless — we email you a one-time code. Keep your email account secure, since access to it is access to your Crier account. You're responsible for anything that happens under your account.
Please provide accurate information when you sign up. One personal account per person.
Because venues on Crier may promote alcohol and other age-restricted offers, you must be at least 18 years old to use Crier. By creating an account you confirm that you are.
3. For locals — it's free
If you use Crier to follow venues and redeem offers, it is free, with no card required and no trial that runs out. Following a venue, saving a promotion, and redeeming an offer are always free for locals.
Each promotion is offered by a venue, not by Crier. The venue sets what the offer is and honours it at its own premises. We're the platform that connects you — we're not the merchant, and we can't guarantee any individual offer.
4. For venues — plans
Venues run on a paid plan. Prices are per month and inclusive of VAT where applicable. There are two tiers:
- Single venue — £19 per month, for running one venue
- Multi venue — £39 per month, for running up to five venues under the same account
New venues start with a single-venue trial so you can set up your first promotions before committing.
New venues join by invitation. Crier isn't open for general sign-up yet — venues come on by invitation or by request, and we approve them one at a time. Your first venue starts with a 30-day free trial on the single-venue plan, with nothing to pay and no payment details needed to begin. Further venues are added by arrangement with us and run on your existing plan.
Nothing is charged automatically. When your trial ends we'll ask whether you'd like to carry on. Paid plans run by Direct Debit, and a charge can only be taken after you've set up a mandate yourself and seen the plan and price — so you will never be charged without notice.
Cancelling. There's no minimum term. Email [email protected] and we'll cancel your plan and stop any further payments; your venue stays put and simply pauses. Direct Debit payments are also covered by the Direct Debit Guarantee, so you can cancel the mandate with your own bank at any time.
5. Promotions and redemptions
Venues are responsible for the promotions they publish: that they're accurate, lawful, and honoured as described. A redemption on Crier is a local showing an offer to staff in person; the venue decides whether the offer's conditions are met.
Crier doesn't take part in the transaction between a venue and a local, doesn't process any payment for an offer, and isn't liable for a venue failing to honour a promotion. If a venue repeatedly publishes misleading offers, we may remove them or suspend the account.
6. Your data
How we handle personal data — what we collect, who we share it with, and how long we keep it — is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms. In particular: venues never receive the identity or personal details of the locals who follow them, only aggregate figures.
7. Acceptable use
You must not:
- Attempt to access another user's account or data
- Try to identify individual locals from a venue account, or otherwise work around the privacy protections above
- Publish offers that are misleading, unlawful, or that you don't intend to honour
- Scrape, reverse engineer, or extract data from the service programmatically
- Do anything that could harm the service or other users
8. Accuracy of information
Crier presents venue and promotion information as provided by venues, and analytics as accurately as it can, but it's an informational tool. Figures and offers are provided in good faith and shouldn't be relied on as the sole basis for a significant decision.
9. Our liability
Crier is provided "as is" and "as available". We work hard to keep it running and reliable, but we don't guarantee it will be uninterrupted or error-free, and we don't offer a formal uptime guarantee. You use it on that basis.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clear Built Ltd's total liability to you for any claim connected to these terms or your use of Crier is limited to £50 for users on free accounts, or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose for paying venues.
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.
10. Intellectual property
Crier — its design, code, and content — is owned by Clear Built Ltd. Venues keep ownership of the logos, photos, and promotion content they upload, and grant us — and the locals using the service — the non-exclusive permission needed to display, download, and share that content within the service and its associated social features. Nothing in these terms gives you any other intellectual property rights in the service.
11. Termination
You can close your account at any time — from your settings if you don't run a venue, or by emailing us if you do, since a venue's promotions and loyalty cards outlive the account that made them. We can suspend or close an account if these terms are breached, if fraudulent activity is detected, or if the account is used in a way that harms others. We'll give notice and a chance to put things right where that's reasonable.
12. Changes to these terms
If we make a material change to these terms, we'll email you before it takes effect. Minor changes — clarity, wording, new service details — will be updated here with a new date.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
