What people say
Absolutely fantastic! We cannot thank everyone at the pub enough for making our wedding day so special. From the moment we started planning to the last dance, everything was absolutely perfect. The service was exceptional, the food and atmosphere were fantastic, and every member of staff went above and beyond to make sure both we and our guests had an unforgettable day. Nothing was ever too much trouble, and we felt so looked after throughout. A very special thank you to Shane and Charlie who are simply amazing. Their warmth, professionalism and genuine care shine through in everything they do. Shane made us feel more like family than customers and played such a big part in making our day so magical. The entire team deserves so much praise for their kindness, attention to detail and incredible hospitality. So many of our guests commented on how wonderful the venue and staff were. If you’re looking for a place to celebrate a special occasion, we couldn’t recommend it more highly. Thank you for giving us memories that we will cherish forever. Thank you and see you all soon 🤍
Stayed here for 2 nights for Reading festival. Hotel was easy to find and staff were very helpful. Rooms were good for the price! Only fault was our shower was a bit leaky but that’s it. Rooms came with 2 twins beds, wardrobe, 1 bedside table and complimentary hot drinks. Check-in and out was very quick and simple. Hotel was a 5 minute drive from the train station & 20 min train from reading station. Morrisons daily, Indian restaurant, Chinese Restaurant and Pharmacy literally right around the corner!
A nice quaint place to stay. It has a very nice outdoor patio where you can have a bite to eat. They also have big screen tvs on the patio which is makes it a great place to watch any big sporting event. On Monday nights, if you order a pint or any drink you get a small pizza for a pound, and any pizza after that is also a pound. The people who worked there were all very nice. My flight was cancelled but the owner, Shane I believe, allowed me to stay at the hotel until I was ready to leave that evening and also allowed extended access to my room if it wasn't being used. That was greatly appreciated !! Very much recommended.
Spacious room, comfortable bed, stayed in Room 1 which overlooks the beer garden. Hot day, no noticeable air conditioning but biggest problem shower mixer tap broken set on maximum temperature. Too hot to stand under. PS. TV remote Batteries needed changing.
We booked a birthday lunch for a group of 28 people and had a really lovely experience. The team were incredibly helpful, kind, and accommodating from start to finish, which made organising such a large group feel easy and relaxed. The food arrived hot and tasty, and impressively, most of us were served together. Service ran very smoothly throughout. The only small downside was that our area was a bit cold, which the staff apologise for. Overall, a welcoming pub with great service and well cooked food. We’d happily return, especially for another group booking.
